Description:
Ministry Function:
The Senior Director - Content supports Convoy of Hope by overseeing content curation and creation. This includes writing for Hope Quarterly Magazine, correspondence for the President and key leaders, direct response, fundraising, and disaster reporting – with an eye toward goal achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for knowing and understanding content channels (the COH website, marketing materials, direct mail appeals, emails, social media, etc.) and regularly providing compelling content and writing for each outlet to achieve measurable outcomes.
Coordinates writing for the Office of the President, including letters, op-eds, editorials, and direct mail.
Demonstrate initiative in identifying compelling stories, working closely with other departments to curate and create content for internal and external audiences.
Oversees content management, making sure source material is ingested, stored, tagged, and otherwise organized appropriately.
Responsible for developing and maintaining content input and output processes.
Manages the Convoy of Hope content team comprising reporters, writers, and editors.
Works closely with the program and disaster services areas to identify and follow up on story leads. Assigns leads within other teams at Convoy to other team members.
Assists with creatively developing stories for publication.
As needed, helps develop assets for other working groups.
Travel domestically or internationally as requested, often on short notice.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field required; Master’s degree in writing, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field preferred.
10+ years of demonstrated experience in written communications for print, video, and broadcast required, with 5 years in a senior writing or management role.
Proven writing skills.
Ability to assimilate feedback in a respectful manner and improve on products.
Ability to work under tight deadlines.
Proven ability to edit for consistency, accuracy, and competency.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice, as requested.
Ability to multi-task and stay highly organized.
Ability to prioritize projects.
Strong interpersonal communication skills in person and in writing.
Attends and actively participates in COH At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
Serve as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
Ability to positively represent the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
