Description:
Ministry Function:
The Junior Web Developer supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by assisting the “Digital Product Team” in maintaining and enhancing our marketing websites, web applications, and participating in development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining and updating existing websites, web applications, and APIs used by donors, volunteers, partners, and internal Convoy staff.
Manage and update content through Wordpress and other content management systems.
Learn and implement testing practices (unit/integration/E2E) to ensure code quality.
Help maintain documentation to provide clarity and consistency of implementation.
Collaborate with the Digital Product Team on technical solutions while learning best practices and development patterns.
Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and expand technical knowledge.
Support more senior developers in implementing new features and fixing bugs.
Assist with other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Required, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
One of the following preferred:
College degree in computer science.
Completion of an accredited coding bootcamp.
Demonstration of dedicated self-study in web technologies.
Two years of professional web development experience or equivalent education/internship/portfolio experience.
Basic proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript preferred.
Experience with Wordpress or similar CMS platforms preferred.
Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
Basic understanding of Convoy of Hope tech stack (React, Node.js, PHP) with willingness to learn more.
Familiarity with modern git development/deployment workflows.
Be coachable, engaged, and willing to learn new technologies or languages as organizational needs change and our tech stack evolves.
Ability to use PC/Mac and software programs.
Strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to concentrate in a fast paced environment.
Ability to successfully multitask, efficiently and accurately completing each project within time deadlines.
Attends and actively participates in COH At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
