Description:
The Disaster Services (DS) International Response Manager manages international disaster response operations, both in the field and from Convoy of Hope Headquarters. This individual works with partners to ensure those affected by disasters are served well and with dignity. This position includes project management, both during response and peacetime. During responses, this position is deployable and will also serve in the Convoy of Hope Disaster Operations Center, as needed.
Qualifications:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage Convoy’s response to international disasters (both rapid and slow onset), as requested. This includes both deploying to the region and setting up relief operations as well as management of responses for which Convoy does not have a physical field presence. Consistently communicate with partners to ensure relief efforts are conducted, completed, and reported accurately. This includes proposals, grant management, ongoing email/text communication with team members and partners, reports, and monitoring and evaluation.
Ensure effective management of projects, during active responses and peacetime, which includes prioritizing tasks and working with team members to ensure successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
Manage all funding with precision and integrity both in the field and remotely, working with partners, companies, etc. on the ground.
Work with the DS Logistics Manager to coordinate the shipping and delivery of disaster supplies for any responses, as needed. This includes coordinating the use of available disaster inventory in program countries or assisting with regional GIK donations and deliveries to ensure beneficiaries needs are met.
Assist with training and preparing deployable team members (both at Convoy HQ and program countries) and partners concerning how to conduct a disaster response.
Maintain an ongoing working knowledge of current global affairs and disaster activity.
Provide updates on any significant events to the International Response Sr. Director, ensuring the team is aware of all significant immediate onset and slow onset disaster events.
Manage key DS relationships with international partners, agencies, organizations, donors, etc. as requested by the International Response Sr. Director. This could include occasional travel to meet with partners to increase operational efficiency and impact for DS.
Assist with disaster preparedness and resiliency, deployment, and onboarding trainings through the presenting and refinement of materials, as requested.
During active responses, when not deployed in the field, serve in a role assigned by the DOC Manager in the Disaster Operations Center.
As a member of the Disaster Services team, support other programs as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Two or more years of church or compassion ministry experience is required.
Two or more years of experience in leadership and project management roles is required.
Multi-lingual preferred.
International travel experience or having lived abroad is required.
Ability and willingness to travel, often on short notice.
Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing situations and scenarios while maintaining a great attitude and the ability to make decisions quickly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in creating, editing, and proofreading content conveying the program work of Convoy, within the organization, to partners and to
Convoy’s target audience - including the ability to build quick rapport.
Project management experience with demonstrated ability to multi-task.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain tact in very difficult situations.
Basic first aid/CPR certification required or completed in the first year of employment.
Must have or obtain applicable forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
Ability to use a PC or Mac software programs and web-based systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Google Business, Monday.com, and Salesforce.
Must complete a minimum of National Incident Management System courses — including 100, 200, 700, and 800 — prior to employment or within the first year of employment.
Attends and actively participates in COH At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct reports, but manages and supervises team members, volunteers, etc., during responses or peacetime to ensure project completion.
