Description:
The Senior Director of U.S. Response supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by directing all operations related to U.S.-based disaster responses. This includes developing and executing response plans for all domestic disasters, coordinating with other relief agencies, and managing strategic planning for domestic disaster response. In addition, the Senior Director collaborates with DS Operations on vehicle and equipment management, core product inventory, and training as it relates to domestic disaster response.


Qualifications:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develops and implements disaster response plans in times of domestic disasters. Provides daily oversight and coaching of U.S. Response Managers and ensures that all direct reports are adequately trained for active deployment and peacetime duties. Collaborates with DS Operations for all domestic disaster services training. Collaborates with working group leadership to provide representation for National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD), state VOADs, and other agencies. Provides representation and/or oversight on behalf of Convoy of Hope for projects and initiatives related to U.S. disaster response. Provides oversight of general resourcing and distribution across the U.S. as it relates to U.S. disaster response. Engages with church leadership and other partner ministries during active disasters to support response efforts. Deploys as needed to assist with disaster response operations. Deployment may include the Disaster Operations Center and/or the field. In collaboration with working group leadership, provides oversight of the team care aspect for U.S. response both in the field and in peacetime. Fosters a culture of collaboration with other areas of the organization, especially those that relate directly to U.S. response. Oversees the development of tools and training to build volunteer capacity within the U.S. response area. Follows general and equipment-specific safety rules and uses appropriate safety protection equipment and other safety devices as required. Fulfills all other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Five or more years of disaster services, emergency services, and/or compassion ministry experience is required. Exhibits a solid knowledge of industry standards in all phases of disaster. Is able and willing to deploy, often on short notice, for up to several weeks at a time. Demonstrates ability to positively contribute to team projects, cooperate with team members, and assist supervisors with planning and evaluation. Displays excellent interpersonal communication skills, mediation skills, and tact. Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills for creating, editing, and proofreading correspondence. Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills, detail orientation, and the ability to multitask and manage deadlines. Exhibits ability and experience in developing program plans, protocols, and standard operating procedures. Possesses ability to use PC and/or Mac software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Monday.com. Is at least 25 years of age and able to obtain a Class A driver’s license within one year of employment. Has or can obtain “ServSafe Manager” certification within six months of employment. Has or can obtain applicable Forklift Certification within 90 days of employment. Has or can obtain CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certification within six months of employment. Can complete required FEMA and NIMS courses prior to employment or within six months of employment. Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members. Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry. Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies. As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization’s religious purposes for which it exists and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
